Today my little boy turns 6 months old! With that comes the realization that my maternity leave is half over. My resolution is to make the most of the next six months, blogging daily about our new adventures!

No More Spoon Feeding
When I picked Chippy up at daycare I saw pictures of the staff letting the kids eat with their hands. So, that was it. We started giving Chippy free access to his food. His beef stroganoff is now emptied into a bowl and he 80% eats it with his hands and 20% tries to eat it with his spoon. At breakfast this morning he ate a whole container of apple sauce with the spoon all by himself! Here are some pictures from the past 24 hours.

IJKLMN Day
(Tuesday's Post) Happy IJKLMN Day! (Previously known as JKLMN day). To celebrate we went out to Harpers for dinner and brought the Chip. He was great!!! He was waving and talking with the other customers. In talking, I mean yelling!! This is him after we got back ... well past his bedtime but still happy!

Good Sport
Today Chippy had to bite the bullet and get his three shots! He got two in his legs at the same time, and one in his arm shortly after. He cried for about a minute and then was fine. He fell asleep in the buggy on the way home and slept for an hour at home. After that he was back to his old self!! The nurses debated for about 10 minutes as to whether or not he could get the shots given he wasn't '100% healthy'. Is there such a thing as 100% healthy kids who are starting daycare!?

Arts & Crafts
(Tuesday's Post) We found out tonight that someone doesn't like to do crafts. We cried from the beginning to the end of our 'annual footprint parade'. He didn't even like the fact that he was able to take a blue bath at the end!
We couldn't get a better picture than this as it was a 4 hand job and shortly after this photo we were all covered in blue paint!

Sick Again :(
Chippy's not feeling well again. As Cindy predicted, daycare is taking a toll on his health!! He's happy enough and still full of energy, but has the normal cough/runny nose/fever.
We bid farewell to Bubba and Gampy today and should see daddy again shortly. Thanks for babysitting!
Since we're close to 13 months, I thought I'd recap what Chippy has been doing recently. He seems to be doing something new every day!
He's really good at following your lead when you put your hands in the air, hands on your head, clapping, waving and touching your fingers together. He sticks his tongue out and he can walk, squat and drink with one hand. He will bring you a book when you point to the bookshelf and say 'book please!'. He slaps the balls through his ball/maze toy when you put the balls on top and he'll tear down anything you try to build with blocks. He'll flip pages quicker than you can say 'turn the page', and he'll initiate peek-a-boo! He's pretty good at looking at the right person when you say 'where's Dunning' or daddy, mommy, etc. and he knows the meaning of 'no'. Whether or not he chooses to obey is another thing.

Chippy Lightyear to the rescue...
For Christmas, Chippy got the Raffi CD he asked for that has the 'brush your teeth' song. Since he had the CD, we obviously now needed the CD player to play it in his room while brushing our teeth! Yesterday mommy and Bubba found a Buzz Lightyear spaceship CD player in the after Christmas sales, and we thought it would be PERFECT for him! (Thanks Nana!) Well, today, Bubba and Gampy were out shopping and they found the matching radio/alarm clock! With lots of flashing lights and buttons to press, we have one happy boy!

The Cookie Monster
So, Aunt Lorri was kind enough to give our son 4 pounds of cookies for Christmas. Even though he has only been in the jar a few times, he knows EXACTLY what's in there. His eyes light up, he points and goes 'MMMMMMMMMMMM'. In trying to get a good picture for the blog I have no idea how many cookies he ate. Let's just say that he wasn't that hungry for dinner!

New Daycare
Today Chippy had his first day in his new daycare! Bubba and Gampy dropped him off at 8:30am and he was playing with the other kids even before his coat was off. Sounds like he had a very good day with the exception of one 'accident report' being filled out on him when he fell and hit his chin.
During bath time tonight we think we discovered a new tooth coming in on top! We'll see in a few days to see if it comes through. It would explain why his cheek has been rosy for the past month.

New Talents
Chippy entered the new year with a bunch of new talents! Firstly he can devour a peanut butter and honey sandwich like no one else! It's too bad the sandwiches had to wait until he was a year because they are a big hit. He can also walk/run in various speeds. There is the normal dawdling speed, then a faster, 'I'm about to attack Dunning' speed. He can now stand up without help from anything around him. Finally, he can point his fists towards the ground, bend his knees slightly and yell 'Baa baa'. Overall, I'd say he learnt quite a bit in 2010!!
