Today my little boy turns 6 months old! With that comes the realization that my maternity leave is half over. My resolution is to make the most of the next six months, blogging daily about our new adventures!

Scooting!
We hit a milestone today! We learned how to move ourselves around while not on our belly. I put Chippy down on the wood floor in the kitchen and he used his feet to push himself backwards. I don't think he was meaning to move (although it helped him to get his hands on the dog bowl), he just liked the sounds his feet made on the floor. Watch out - here comes Chippy!
Shopping Spree!
Today (Thursday) we went on a field trip to the most important shopping mall! :-) I helped Chippy to distinguish good sales from bad sales!! We made out like bandits when we found a $350 Breville juicer for cheap cheap. He was good the whole trip! We finished off our shopping trip by picking up more paint for the living room. Oops ... forgot camera. :(

Marathon Dancing
The idea today was that we would dance to one full kiddy CD. We got through three songs before he started to fall asleep. After a brief intermission and a lot of rain, we continued but only got through about half the CD. He loves the bouncing and being flipped upside down. He gets cranky when there isn't enough interaction. When I first put on the CD he stared at the speakers, probably wondering where the people were!

A Day for the Dog
Today (Wednesday) was Dunning's day! She was scrubbed, clipped, picked, wiped, and walked! Chippy and Dunning are fairly good pals ... Chippy grabs at Dunning and Dunning either ignores him or walks away. Dunning has had to get used to being second fiddle, so it was about time we gave her a day to herself!

No Sugar - No Salt!
Lowering the Crib
(Monday's post) For the past few nights, Chippy has been pulling on the bumper pads of his bed. It seems like he's just trying to eat them, but it likely won't be long before he's pulling up on them. So, last night (Sunday)we lowered his crib! He doesn't seem to mind it at all. Sleeping patterns have remained the same - sleeping until 4-6am, then another 1-3 hours; plus 2-3 naps per day.

The Money Shot
Today we had our (late) 7 month photo shoot! After over 100 pictures taken, we finally got our money shot on the last one (see beside). Most of the pictures taken were either out of focus, or Chippy was on the move so it didn't turn out. It's much different trying to take his picture now than 4 months ago when he took direction and stayed still! The rain cleared up so we took some pictures in the back yard and then some more inside. Dunners came outside too, but stayed hidden in the bushes. Unusual for her as she normally likes to be in the action.
Pincher Grasp
Today (yesterday!) we focused on activities that developed our pincher grasp. We played with a few old toys that require using individual fingers to move objects. In addition, at dinner time, daddy cut up some cheese and put it on Chippy's tray for him to try to pick up. We weren't too successful, but we'll keep working on it! We are good at opening our mouth when we want more ... and more ... and more ...

Jungle Babies
Today he woke up early, so I thought he would nap earlier. Not to be! I finally got him to sleep around 9:30, however, we had our first 'Jungle Babies' at the library today at 10:00. I napped too and happened to wake up at 9:55 - up we got and off to the library. Despite our lack of sleep, he was smiles through the entire session. He liked watching the leader of the group as she read the stories, and he also liked playing with the balls that were rolled back and forth between the babies. No picture as I thought it was going to rain and didn't take the camera. Here's an older one where we're exploring books on our own.

Helping with the Laundry
Today was laundry day!
It seems as though we are on the verge of getting two bottom teeth, so we were a bit of a crank today. Cranks and chores don't normally go together; however, they do if you are creative! I piled the laundry up around the Chipster, then with every piece of laundry we played peek-a-boo. He loved it! It was easy to multi-task the folding of the laundry, but not so much the putting away. Which would explain why the folded clothes are still sitting in the living room!

Lucky Boy!
Over the past few days, Chippy and I visited my parents cottage (had to come home due to the heat!), and had a visit from my husbands parents. Today we're back to our normal schedule and are resuming our blog. :-)
Today we went to Mothers Circle and Chippy was the lucky winner of a gift certificate to Designer Baby plus a little toy bear!! Yippee!! Now I'm excited to go uptown and shop! I love browsing in that store - now we can buy, buy, buy!
We came home and celebrated by having beets for the first time. We finished up with cottage blueberries. See attached photo for the result.

Happy Canada Day!
Happy Canada Day! Today we sported our best red clothes and hit the streets of Kingston! We saw lots of families celebrating in Confederation Park and at the market. Then we watched the 'Red and White' parade on the main street. A nice lady at the Metro gave Chippy her Canada flag. He promptly ate it. We are currently listening to the fireworks from downtown. Crossing our fingers that they don't wake up the boy...
