Our wee man is moving over to 'the big house' on Tuesday! In preparation for this, he has been having lunch and some naps over the big house over the last few weeks. He was sent home yesterday with a book filled with pictures and drawings from over the past year! Chippy's speech is getting really good ... sentences that are 6-10 words long! One thing he says now is 'Daddy is' ... meaning where is Daddy? We're trying to get him to change from saying 'I need ...' to 'I would like ... please'. Works when we correct him - but then it's right back to need, need, need!!!
Today my little boy turns 6 months old! With that comes the realization that my maternity leave is half over. My resolution is to make the most of the next six months, blogging daily about our new adventures!

Auntie Cindy's Pinterest
So, after 9 months of wracking my brain for little things to do with Chippy while he's off daycare, I find out there's this thing called Pinterest, and that Auntie Cindy has a billion ideas on it for the little ones. Too bad I only have 2 days left before he's back full-time!! :(
Here are a few that we sampled today:
Dinosaur Poo
Clean Finger Painting
Making 'soup'
Making 'cupcakes' (with play dough)
Our morning was a success ... Wee M slept for 2 hours and Chippy and Mommy had a tear-free morning!

Ball Game!
Chippy went to his first ballgame with Peppers and Pa ... unfortunately it was in Detroit! The Jay's were out of town when we were travelling through town, so this had so suffice. I don't think he noticed the sub-par team ... he watched about an inning then walked around the stadium sampling the fine cuisine.

August
After such a long time between blogs, we have to start out with how well Chippy is doing on the potty! He went all day today with big boy underwear on! He just needs a little encouragement and he does great! He's a boy who will eat almost anything we serve him. The only problem we're having now is that he doesn't want to sit through a meal ... too many more interesting things to do!
Chippy is also doing very well with his numbers. He counts from 1 - 10 very easily and then skips to 14, 17, 19, 20 (or ten-ty as he calls it!). He even seems to get the concept of adding one plus one and two plus one. Letters are coming along as well. He can recognize a good number of them. He's starting to string quite a number of words together. He gets going on telling a story and he can't seem to get the words out fast enough! Sometimes he uses his hand to help tell a story ... he concentrates his eyes on his hand and pops it up and down and points all over the place when he gets going. He can carry on a pretty good conversation on the phone, too!
He has started coming up with little games for himself. At daycare, Heather brought in a bottle of rocks. Chippy put a sheet over his head and stuck his hand in the jar and pulled out a rock. He then announced what sort of rock it was - small smooth rock. At the cottage he has a game where he pushes Gampy's acorns down into a hole in a lamp. At the park today he was walking around a brick ledge like a balance beam. He's also becoming an excellent soccer player - he'll play for long periods of time! He's really good natured too - laughs a lot when he plays and doesn't get frustrated at all!
Chippy really loves books! He will sit and listen through big boy books, and can finish the sentences for books that we've read a lot. We're reading a lot of curious george books, Olivia, truck books, and a some really cute ones called The Mitten and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus.
Something I've really noticed is how good his memory is. He remembers all sorts of things that I would never expect him to. If we comment on a car or a motorcycle one night on a walk, the next night he'll point to the spot where it was and say 'No car' or 'No motorcycle'.
Grammy/Pa taught Chippy his first card game this weekend. Go Fish! He teams up with Pa and he's honestly won every game he's played!
Finally, he's a boy that will do anything for his little sister! Lots of hugs and kisses and 'Hi Maisie' or when he's being silly 'Hi Moy-soy'. If she's crying he'll get a toy for her and if she drops something he'll pick it up for her. He's been nothing but the best big brother in the world!

Ottawa
We had a fun filled time in Ottawa on Saturday! We started off walking around the market, eating Beavertails, picking up supplies for a picnic, having our picnic, then headed off to the Museum of Civilization. Chippy had so much fun in the Children's Museum ... what better than driving a bus, a taxi, a motorcycle, a truck and a camel all in 2 hours!

Park Playin'
Park times this morning! We had a picnic ... played in the water (being careful not to get wet!) ... and played on the big equipment! We were even complimented on how 'advanced' we were on the jungle gym!! Then we came home and painted (ourself) in the back yard!

Ferry Ride
One hot afternoon this past week Chippy and I thought it would be fun to go for a ferry ride! We were in line and ready to go when Chippy got cold feet and suggested - no this one! However, once on the boat he had a great time!

Best Behaviour
Mr Chippy has been on his best behaviour since Bubba/Gampy arrived! Besides the required 3 truck times a day, Chippy has indulged in the odd ice cream cone, gone out for breakfast at the corner restaurant, and gone on hour to hour and a half walks uptown each night -- no buggy required!
We recently installed a new window air conditioner outside of Chippy's room. Since then his afternoon naps now last 2 - 3 hours and he sleeps really well at night ... possibly because of the white noise? I think this has partially contributed to his better behaviour!
Bubba and Chippy were recently playing on the Etch-a-Sketch and Chippy was making near perfect circles!! Then he'd make circles within a circle!!
Possibly one of his not so shining moments include his new game of peeing in the back yard! As we play around with the hose in the back, he gets wet and takes off his clothes. Pretty soon he decides he needs a pee. By the time I make it back out with the potty, he has shed his diaper and is peeing in the yard ... laughing!!
